History of Camp Michael

THE CAMP MICHAEL STORY

2011 will mark 39 years of continuous summer Christian residential camping experiences supported and presented by the combined Episcopal Parishes and Missions of the Willapa Hills Region of the Diocese of Olympia. St. John's, Olympia with the shared leadership of Brother Michael Stonebraker, Order of the Holy Cross, and eventually with the combined resources of the Regional Episcopal Churches, created and continue to develop the camping program from year-to-year, meeting new challenges, welcoming new campers and watching returning campers grow into leadership positions. We are even experiencing parents who were campers now bringing their children to camp!

This ministry bears the name CAMP MICHAEL and the short arm cross logo as a tribute to Brother Michael. Bro. Michael was absent from camp for a number of years, but was able to rejoin us in 1996, and finally retired in 2005. The combined Episcopal Churches of this regional area are committed to sponsoring and supporting this on-going happy summer camping experience for as long as there are children and energy and vision for a Christ-centered camping ministry!
